Fox Fall XC Classic

There were several sightings of many foxes running around Lake Los Carneros this morning. Turns out the foxes were really a bunch of runners participating in the annual Fox Fall XC Classic. The first finisher of the approx. 5 mile cross-country course was Adam Roeder from UCSB at 28:08. Fastest woman was Cindy Abrami in 31:04. This is one of the friendliest races of the year and per custom treated... Read More »

Carpinteria Kiwanis Big Avocado Run

A surprisingly warm, dry and crystal clear morning down on the Carpinteria bluffs for the 36th annual Big Avocado Run. This is a 5K semi-cross country course which does not contribute to the fastest of times although Pedro Paramo at 17:21 and Cindy Abrami at 18:46 posted respectable top finishes for the men and women. The Carpinteria Kiwanis always do a good job in staging the race and are very gr... Read More »

Goleta Education Foundation 4-Miler

An ideal morning for a invigorating run/walk through the streets (and park) of Goleta. The usual suspects were at the front of the 4-Miler pack with Ricky Ho the top finisher at 21:20 and Cindy Abrami the first woman (third overall) in 24:07. Great to see all the kid’s out there in the 4-Miler and Kid’s Fun Run. It was another successful year for the kid’s as the race benefits th... Read More »

35th McConnell’s 5K & 10K

It was a fitting tribute to long time McConnell’s race director Kevin Young that the 35th McConnell’s was another successful event. After 35 years Kevin is stepping down as director and next year, while there will be a McConnell’s, Kevin will probably be kicking back and enjoying the event rather than running around coordinating everything. In today’s races the 5K saw Todd ... Read More »

Chuck’s Annual Beach Fun

Chuck’s friendly invitations to their annual beach party were well received as many more than usual showed up for Chuck’s 34th annual run on the beach. Plenty of good food and drink as usual along with a ton of raffle prizes. Thanks to Brad, Steve and the rest of the crew at Chuck’s for being so generous in staging the party. Semana Nautica 15K

The 59th annual Semana Nautica 15K is in the history books. A good turnout on a perfect morning for running. Bobby Olivera and Sergey Suschikh were the front runners and in an exciting finish Olivera from Ventura beat Sergey (of local fame) 48:36 to 48:40. For the women, Drea McLarty ran an excellent race and won in 56:14. Second place woman and also finishing very strong was Annie O’Donnell... Read More »

State Street Mile

State Street Mile

An excellent turnout for the 2013 edition of the State Street Mile. Lots of exciting age group races starting with the kids (14/Under) all the way through the older kids (70/Over). In the Elite Men’s race the course record was broken by Michael Coe (formerly of Lompoc). Old record was 3:52. Michael ran a 3:49! Second place in Elite Men’s also broke the record – a 3:50 by Forest B... Read More »

Gaucho Gallop

Gaucho Gallop

Mother Nature is always the best event director and she did not disappoint this morning at the 2013 Gaucho Gallop presented by GEICO. With breakfast burritos from Country Catering and blue grass music by UCSB’s own Bren Grass from the school of Environment Studies awaiting the finishers at the Fitness Expo, it was the perfect kick-off to Alumni Saturday during the weekend’s All Gaucho ...
